This is where Time and Heaven meet

This light shines so dimly -- is it really full of truth?
Does it hide secret meanings?
Darkness hides the depth of habit
I shake it off and it reappears.
Humility fades with the sun
Here it seemed so quaint, so fitting
Yet it sneaked out the back door
I reach for what slips away so fast
This path is lined with invisible proof
And words from people that hint at the truth.

Sometimes you turn your back
And I don’t know who you are
Or is it destined to be hidden…
Can’t I redefine love from these secrets
And give it a new name, a promise, wings to fly?
But I’m not there yet, not even partway
(I can’t go without you).
The dawn breaks and I close my eyes, wishing distraction away
You can’t give back that piece of my heart,
(its in you but you don’t even see it)
But in broken weakness that lingers
I know this is a precious seed
Dying before it lives.
