time to trash idols

I always thought it was funny when one of my cats would sit under a lamp to get warm. the cross of Christ is like that; anyone who puts their faith in it is under a spotlight that warms and transforms them into Christ, the sacrifice of the cross provides wisdom and justice for our daily walk in this world. If we have other sources in our lives, if we are under an artificial light- like junk food, entertainment, material pleasures, humanistic ideas, money - these are just a replacement for the real and true love of God that He gives to us eagerly with no hesitation. Try it, spend time under the light of the cross, persevere, and see the difference in who you are and who you live for.

In a conversation today, a friend said something that really made me think: it is idolatry if someone other than God is our source of blessing and approval. I pondered that.... sometimes idolatry can be the chair we sit on in our comfort zone, and we'd never admit it. we can talk in circles about idolatry, and maybe that in itself is the circle around the comfort zone. the 'its fine the way it is' feeling. I've been reading Revelation and the teachings of Mike Bickle on it as well... only in hindsight will we know the value of time spent in the bible, and the simple choice to choose Jesus and ADMIT we need Him in our lives to have abundant life. Especially in these time where the economy and our lives are being shaken...

now he makes another promise: “Once again I will shake not only the earth but the heavens also.”27 This means that all of creation will be shaken and removed, so that only unshakable things will remain. 28 Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.

Be under the True Light, spend time there, and know it will be valuable in the end.
